Oregon park fees rising
The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is raising camping, parking, and reservation fees due to rising operational costs and increased visitation. Most fee increases will be between $2 to $5. The last adjustments were made 7 to 15 years ago.
Key changes include:
- Oct. 15, 2024: Base camping fees will increase for 2025 reservations, with specific increases based on site type: $2 for miscellaneous sites, $3 for tent sites, $4 for RV sites, and $5 for cabins and yurts.
- Jan. 1, 2025: The reservation fee will rise from $8 to $10, and daily parking fees will increase from $5 to $10 at 25 parks. Annual and two-year parking permit fees will remain unchanged.
- July 1, 2025: The out-of-state surcharge for RV campsites will expand to all site types. New camping rate ranges will be established to allow future adjustments.
OPRD is primarily funded through lottery funds, vehicle fees, and park fees, not taxes. They are also working on proposals to enhance access to state parks and will open public comments on day-use parking requirements.
